where has the time gone?
February 25, 2007 10:32 amA co-worker, Amanda, kindly mentioned that I had not posted in a few weeks. I did not realize it! So I am going to give a bit of a post without pictures because I’m too lazy to take some on a Sunday morning.
Knitting
Cameron asked for a blanket. He has been wanting me to knit something for him for quite a while. Being the selfish knitter that I am I haven’t knit him anything in ages. So I went through my stash (don’t fall over, yes I actually am using some of it) and picked out odd balls of Mission Falls 1824 wool that I had planned on making mittens out of. I asked him to pick the colors that he liked or that he can have all the colors (blue, red, green, navy) and of course he picked ALL the colors. I am going to knit the first ball and then I will decide where to go from there. I am either going to do a log cabin with a row of white between each square with a white border, or do something like Allison has done for her kidlets. It is my tv knitting at the moment.
My STR socks are coming along nicely. I am on the second sock and knitting the leg at the moment. Since these were done toe-up that means that I am almost done. At the moment I am using this project as “stuck in traffic” knitting and lunch time knitting.
Unikat sweater has been on hold as I am on the arms and not motivated with it. I am going to make a goal to work on it for ten minutes a day. That will lead to more time I’m sure. I think that the body may be a bit to short, though Karen mentioned that her’s actually grew. So I’m on the fence about taking out the bind off and knitting more or leaving it as is.
Spinning
I had been pretty lax in the spinning department, but I have been doing some organization of the fibre stash due to having bursts of energy (or manic moments) where I want to organize before curling up on the couch again. Then last week I got my shit together. I started spinning Spunky Eclectic’s BFL in Confused. I was able to do four ounces in about 5 hours (at the most) and last night I finished off the other 4 ounces. I plied up a bobbin full and like how it is looking. I am going to ply the other half of it and eventually knit some socks I think.
The next spinning project will be Crown Mountain Farms Superwash Merino in Blue Suede Shoes. Since their sock hop yarn is sold out I figured I would spin up some of my own. With all the fibre I have, picking a project is almost overwhelming!
Life in General
Things are plugging along. I am having a lot of sad days and not grieving as I should be. I know it will happen eventually. I had a lateral promotion at work. More responsibility along with learning my co-workers job because she is pregnant. I believe that she will probably be gone in the next month or so for bed rest. Cameron is awesome. He looked at me yesterday morning when we were out for breakfast and said “you are the best mommy” … He is my light and I love him more than words could express. Plus him asking for the blanket was really cute. I’ll try to get some pictures posted this week. No promises.

wow. this could be a record.
February 8, 2007 11:32 amI do have pictures to show you. Ok. They haven’t been taken yet but I am working on it. The sweater in progress (Unikat, Color 06) is in the car as I finished the body today on the drive into work (lots of waiting in traffic). If I can get this sucker done this month that would mean 3 whole sweaters completed in the month of January this year so far (thanks Cathy!! I guess I am not ready for it to be February). I don’t usually complete one a month (or even a year for that matter!) The sweater is my own basic v-neck sweater. A top down, because those are the best.
As for my STR socks in Marble. Whitley has been in chew mode for the past two days. I think she is heavily teething. Anyways, she took my purse off of the table and took out the yarn. Thankfully the sock was not unravelled … however the rest of the ball was. So its on hold until I feel like re-balling it.
Thats all for now. I do promise pictures.

Thank you & FO #2
February 1, 2007 3:17 pmA huge heartfelt thankyou to everyone who has emailed me and left messages on the blog. I just don’t have it in me to respond to you all right now but know that you are all in my heart for your kindness and support. It really does help to have support even from those of you I have never met.
And since this is a knitting blog…

I have a new sweater on the needles. I am hoping to be done it within the next two weeks. It has been my “lunchtime” knitting project. I’ll show pictures of progress when I have the time to take some pictures.
And. I’m back at work. The distraction is good. Yesterday was the first day that I actually picked up the phone to call Dad and realize that he wasn’t going to be there. It gave me a cold hand around the heart feeling. I know this is the first of many such events that will occur and each one will get a little easier!
