Invisible windows and a submarine

Well, in response to my request for topics, Pam asked for more of Cameron. And, since I haven’t seen Pam in years, but think of her all the time, she wins out today.

cameron "sitting pretty"

Yesterday I was taking some pictures of the kidlet and the dogs. Angel was being silly (in Cam’s words) by sitting in the chair. She was falling asleep sitting up. It was rather cute. For such a big dog, her ability to curl herself up into a small ball is something I envy.

Anyways, I digress.

Every picture I took the boy was in. He kept doing his funny poses and making faces. I finally had to tell him to “sit … stay … don’t move” till I got the pictures of the dogs that I wanted. He had such a hard time just sitting there knowing that the camera was in use. For a four and a half year old, he is starting to only want things that are “cool” … well fuck me sideways! I thought I had years before I would have to deal with cool shoes and cool clothes. His shoes aren’t cool because they aren’t Lightening McQueen shoes. His shirt this morning wasn’t the “cool” shirt with the two dinosaurs on it. HELLO!! Isn’t this supposed to be an issue for little girls? Or is that stereotypical of me to say so? Aren’t little boys supposed to only care about being dirty and trucks? Not if something is cool or not. I can only imagine what my future holds for me. Then again “pinky and purple” are some of his favourite colors. Oh his dad hates that.

Superhero’s are also very big in our house right now. When I grow up I am going to be Pterodactyl Girl, Cameron is going to be Pterodactyl Boy. We will both have fire powers and be able to fly. Very important when one is a superhero. Every time we get into the car we have to turn it into a submarine to travel through the water and lava. That is his job. He has a special way of making sure our car will be safe. Also, we have invisible windows that keep the sharks away; even when the windows are open … no water can get in either.

Our house is also a big big big submarine and the dogs are our army to fight off the sharks and bad guys. We have a very cool house. It has all these powerful gadgets that get the bad guys and make sure that we are always safe. Cameron needs to make sure that our submarine is as far away from the bad guys each night before we go to bed.

Needless to say, I love that my little guy has such an active imagination. There are moments of course where he does test me (yesterday was one of them) but for the most part we are good with each other. He has a sticker reward program where once he fills up a sheet with “good behaviour” stickers he gets a toy of his choosing. Yesterday the whole sticker sheet got taken away, but he earned it all back. It is working out really well because he will mention to me that he wants this toy or that gadget and I tell him that it is something that he can get when he fills up his sheet of stickers. “oh yeah mommy” … is the answer I always get, rather than a temper tantrum because I won’t buy him something.

Oh, and did you know that baby dolphins come out of the hole that their mommies pee comes out of? And that baby hippo’s come out of the hole where their mommies poo comes out of? Not exactly correct but pretty close for a 4 ½ year old!

OMG - he is so cute!! And silly in a way that seems all too familiar to me. I think our sons may have come from the same planet…

Hope you are feeling better!
