The Rowan Project is where I will be knitting something from each of the Rowan Magazines, starting at number 1. Yes, the very FIRST Rowan Magazine. I have started a page where you can follow the finished projects. My desire is to take the pattern as is and just do it, unless, I feel it needs a little bit of a modern touch. So far we have the Women’s Cable Pullover, Pattern 8a, Rowan 1.

Rowan Wool Cotton in grey, on size US 5 needles. I started off using a cable needle and then found Grumperina’s tutorial on knitting without a cable needle. So I tried it out. First with my Addi Turbo’s but I found that the tip was a bit too blunt. SO. I went and got my knitpicks needles. Perfect!

Other Knitting News:I have my first pattern written out. Salt Spring Waves sock pattern is available at Knit Front and Back as a free pattern!Personal Non-Knitting News: I quit my job. Yes I know. I only got it a few months ago, but I gave my notice on Monday. The role is one that is too junior for me and not challenging. I am going to an Architecture firm outside of the downtown core (means I no longer pay for parking! YAY!), work the same hours in a funky atmosphere. The position is brand new to them and I will be writing my job description, tailoring the position to the needs of the firm and myself. It is really exciting as I see the possibilities of a career that will make me happy and help provide me with a great career. I start on the 6th but will be going in on the next two fridays to meet people during their “beer and wine hour” at 4pm! I will also be able to tailor my schedule to meet the needs that I have with Cameron. Also, if I want to work a bit extra during the days I can get every other Friday off ect. One of the neat things was going into the back of the office and seeing the wall of paint chip colors. OMG. Heaven. I can see standing there looking at the colors and imagining yarn and patterns.

And Cameron is playing Hockey. He is so cute. I am very proud of him. As soon as I get pictures I’ll post.

No. Its not a “real” yarn store. But its all mine. Those of you who have been to my house have seen the disaster area that this HAD been. Of course, I had taken a picture of it this morning at 6:15 am after a long night of “awake sleeping” and of course forgot to set the flash and didn’t realize it until I had pulled everything out of the room. Which made my basement look like this:

This is just some of what it looked like. The room that you can see into was also filled with all of this crap. So I went through it. Two bags of clothing to Goodwill. Two bags of garbage. A TON of empty boxes and a general mess. A mess that I have organized and still have some organization to do. But it is coming along. You know when you have “tasks” that you set for yourself but then don’t get around to them? It leaves you with that anxious feeling? Well that is what I’ve had. So. Now I have this beautiful area where I can spend some time.

Like my inspiration? The other one that you can’t see very well has the silk that I dyed in Salt Spring framed. I’m really quite pleased with what I accomplished today.

And if you were actually wondering if I really did send my clothing home from the Salt Spring Retreat, this goes to show that I did. Full of yarn babbbbeeeeeee.

Yes. I know you have been waiting for it. Some information about the stash enhancement that has occurred this week. Today was the B I G stash enhancement day … but before we get to that (aka I need to take pictures) I will show you what I have purchased so far.

These are all yarns that Lucy Neatby has dyed for her store. I have paired one skein of Cat’s Pajamas with a skein of Celestial Merino Dream solid for the heels and toes. Cat’s Pajama’s is a blend of 80% Merino, 10% Cashmere and 10% Nylon. I am loving this yarn. It feels like butta to knit with.

The next little batch is Celestial Merino Dreams in 100g skeins for either socks or some shawls. Not sure yet. 2 skeins each of scarlet and damson.

Finally, for today anyways, is a sneak peak of the socks I’m working on. Watch for the pattern as a part of Socktoberfest kickoff on Knit Front and Back.

It is the break before dinner and it has been a geat day so far. My room looks over the harbor and I have a fireplace. The windows are open and the rain is pitter pattering softly on the balcony. It was beautiful today and the rain has just started. Got up this morning and had a huge breakfast, then, time for work. We had to pick out our projects and our yarn. It has been extremely neat for my anti-social self to meet such wonderful people. There is one woman here … who has knit 180 pairs of socks for herself … she excluded the one’s she’s done for others and over 650 Christmas stockings!! Amazing!! So after we all picked out our projects (either one of Lucy’s kits or we can design our own) we were able to do some “shopping” …. and yes. I did. (took pictures but too lazy to download them). Then it was time for lunch and … a massage. After the massage a few of us walked into town (a very nice walk!) and looked around … now its time for dinna!! and a glass of wine.

Tomorrow we will be going out for a tour of the island and to visit a few of the local craft places.

I am looking at doing just socks and one lace project while gone. The retreat is all about socks as it is … so I figure … why not make a week of it!

I debated about writing a post today. I debated about putting my thoughts down. I remember where I was. I remember what class I was in. What I was doing when we were told. Ensuring that friends were ok. Unable to stop watching the news. Sitting on my back porch weeks afterwards and having anxiety attacks about the planes flying too low. Extreme sadness for the families who lost loved ones. I had a moment of silence for them today. Then I got to thinking about everyone everywhere (I go downhill fast…with these thoughts).

Needless to say … I was in fine form when I saw my doctor today …

On a neat note … People who know me understand that I have a thing for Starbuck’s mugs. Well a co-worker just got back from Lebanon and brought me a beautiful mug from a ‘Buck’s there that has a big green spruce tree on it as that is one of the many things they are known for. I just can’t get a good picture of it.
